EARLY SIGHTINGS PART ONE

    EARLY SIGHTINGS PART 2

SOME RECENT Loch Simcoe Monster SIGHTINGS

EMAIL TO ROD URQUHART - MAC HOLMES SIGHTING

And Mac Holmes has the most frightening experience to date, Read on, dear reader : "I had a terrifying experience with a creature while swimming in Lake Simcoe about 25 years ago. It was a sunny summer day in August, 1996.

I was age 12, I went to the little rocky beach at the bottom of the 5th Line of Oro. My brother and I liked to swim as far out as we could, looking for rocks where larger crayfish would hide and clams. We usually made it out quite far. I always wore a scuba mask so I could search for the crayfish and clams. This particular day was a very clear one, and the water was not dark or murky. I swam out with my brother, probably 100 feet from shore and we began our search.

I had my back to my brother's direction (to shore). I got my fingers under the edge of the biggest rock in the small area I was in. That's when the area around me got much darker, as if a boat was passing almost overhead but a little in front of me, or when a cloud obscures the sun and suddenly there's shade. I remember thinking to myself that's weird, I don't hear a boat? So I started to look up and that's when I saw it.

It was immense. I could not see where it began, and I could not see where it ended. It was at least 3 feet thick from its belly to its back. I think it was 6 feet in front of me. It was moving past me, headed in the direction of Orillia. It undulated through the water up and down, not side to side. It was moving really fast but had a slow undulation, like you see in whale videos on You Tube. It was dark gray and scaly, and I saw a small flipper or fin on its side. It was also absolutely silent, and it was maybe a second and a half from when I first saw its shadow to when I looked up. I panicked and swam frantically towards my brother who was unaware of the passing creature. I was a great swimmer and had fins on my feet so I made it to him quickly, grabbed his arm and dragged him to the surface. I screamed monster and swam for my life towards shore."

And this from a young Barrie woman, sent to me most recently (in exactly her own words):                                                                                                                                                      You wrote an article on Kempenfelt Kelly. Well i saw it !!!! Not last November but November 1, 2020. I was sitting at the lake with a friend like we always did late around 2 a.m. and the lake at the time was super clear and calm. Out of nowhere my friend said look at that and i looked over and saw it. It had had two humps trailing behind it and a really long neck. We watched it swim until it hit the bridge just down from the playground at the end of the lake. It was huge. I've never seen anything like it and we both had our phones in the car. But man we're we in shock we both sat in silence from the creepy scary monster we witnessed. I'm 35 and i have never seen something like that. It still scares me to this day. I should add that once it got to the bridge by the park it vanished into the water somehow. It was crazy and i've been checking the lake every night since!!!             - Krystal

A JACKSONS POINT SIGHTING - EARLY FALL 2016 - By BRUCE ROACh

This website is a product of an ongoing interest in aquatic cryptid mysteries I have had for many years. It started with the Lochness Monster reports from Scotland in the 1960s, little did I know at that time that Ontario Canada has many of its own mysterious lake creatures to explore. The most famous, just north of Toronto, has been sighted in Lake Simcoe for hundreds of years. Living very near this lake now for over twenty years has peeked my curiosity even further and after countless looks towards its water, I finally had a close up encounter of my own. It was early fall of 2016, on my after dinner walk at about 6:30pm. I was walking back home on Pinery Lane (Jackson's Point) when I spotted a long, large stove pipe black object sticking out of the water just beyond the cement fire dock. This was quite a distance from me, I began running down the gravel access laneway down to the dock. At the same time, I was setting set up my cell phone to video the creature.

      After 70 Yard Run

Could see something very large, black and unusual at end of cement dock. I began running down the pathway.

      After 70 Yard Run

Prepared my cell for video and saw the creature going to the left of the large cement fire dock. It was getting dark fast from the sundown.

      Taking Video

      After 70 Yard Run

      Taking Video

Took video of the creature as it headed for just beyond the end wooden dock. I was zoomed in but the large trees on shore were casting large shadows on the lake.

I was able to estimate its neck to be about a foot wide. It looked to be about two and a half to three feet out of the water and moving very smoothly towards Bonnie Boats marina. The water was calm and the creatures movement was rigid as if it was possibly walking on the lake bottom.

By the time I was able to zoom in and start to video, the creature was now close to the end of the wooden dock to the west of the cement dock I was standing on. The sundown was causing shadows of the large trees on the lake shore to blend in with the dark, black neck image I was trying to capture. Unfortunately the video was too dark make much out. The creature must have been looking away from me the whole time because I did not see any sign of a head or face. My neck size estimate of the creature is very accurate because I had two metal moorings at the end of the cement dock to compare the width of the neck to, I saw this while I was running down the gravel road. If you have had a sighting or maybe taken a picture of a strange creature in the lake and would like to share your experience please fill out the form below. We can add your sighting to the growing collection. More info on this amazing mystery in Lake Simcoe will be added to this website in the future concerning the mysterious cryptids called various names ; igopogo, Kempenfelt Kelly, Simcoe Sam and Beaverton Bessie.
